Try to use this drivers http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=Files&go=cat&dwn_cat_id=20 and adjust the sound from 16 bit to 32 bit if it's poor quality

I also have the SB Live! 5.1 sound card. I cant get the 5.1 to work. I am stuck with running it at 2.1 sound and the quality is very bad when im listening to music, the bass distorts the other speakers which shouldnt have bass on them O_o
I tried what you said, but i can only go to a maximum of 16bit. the maximum on the list is 24bit 96000 Hz (Studio Quality). Anything above 16bit 48000 Hz (DVD Qualtiy) will give me an error:
--------------------------- Device In Use --------------------------- The device is being used by another application. If you continue, that application may stop working. Do you want to continue? --------------------------- Yes No ---------------------------
If i click yes then i get:
--------------------------- Error! --------------------------- Failed to play test tone. --------------------------- OK ---------------------------
I have tried uninstalling then restarting and reinstalling the SBlive Drivers but it never seems to work.

Hello.
I am guessing that the drivers that came with Vista (via Windows Update) for the Live! 5.1 are crippled. If you look on SB's website, you will see that Live! 5.1 will not have drivers available for it through SB. Chances are the only reason the crippled drivers are there is because a number of people complained.
SB is only supporting Vista from the 24bit and newer cards. Perhaps we need to complain loudly to them for not supporting the Live! Cards as well (16bit)

Where's the revenue for them to support it? It's all about the money. If you each agreed to pay them $20, perhaps, but otherwise.....

just downloaded them earlier yesterday. Weird thing is that 32 bit is not on the list. The max it goes is to 24 bit. Maybe i only have a 24 bit SB Live! sound card version?
